About TruckinRyan

Truck driver. Cancer survivor. Storyteller. Over 2 million miles and still

chasing the next adventure.

Hello! I’m Ryan – better known as TruckinRyan (or Frogger on the CB) I’ve been a truck driver for over 20 years and have logged more than 2 million miles behind the wheel. I’m from Denver, Pennsylvania, but these days I spend more time traveling between Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Kansas than I do at home, me.

My love for trucking started when I was a kid riding with my dad every chance I got. When it was time to start my own trucking career, he was the one that trained me. For the few years, I hauled fresh hams from Philadelphia to Chicago, then swinging veal into New York City.

When my cousin Paul had an opening at Paul Rissler Transportation, I joined the team hauling LTL freight from Pennsylvania to Texas every other week for six and a half years.

Eventually, I wanted to spend more time with my daughter, so I took a local job hauling milk from area farms to the dairy. After about a year and a half, I moved to a local hatchery where I hauld baby chicks for about a year.

When another opportunity opened up at Paul Rissler Transportation, I returned to the company, hauling LTL freight from Pennsylvania to Missouri and Kansas for around seven years.

Then life took an unexpected turn.

Cancer forced me off the road.

I spent 17 months fighting cancer and recovering from chemotherapy. There were days when getting back behind the wheel felt like a distant dream, but I never gave up.

When I was finally healthy enough to return, Paul handed me the keys to a beautiful 2016 Peterbilt 389 (that I call “Ol Girl”) that he originally built for himself.

To me it wasn’t just another truck – it was a fresh start.

I began posting pictures of the truck and life on the road on Facebook. At first, it was just for friends, but before long more and more people started following along. As I shared stories from the road, the community continued to grow.

That’s when I realized this could become something bigger than a Facebook page.

I created TruckinRyan.com to build a place where truck drivers and trucking fans from around the world could connect, share experiences, and celebrate the people who keep our highways moving.

One of my goals is to build a Friends of TruckinRyan section where people can share photos of themselves, their trucks, their families, or even their four-legged co-drivers.

I also plan to grow a Stories from the Road section where I can share my own experiences and invite others to tell theirs.

Because every driver has a story worth telling.

Whether you’re a professional driver, an owner-operator, a weekend truck enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys life on the open road, I’m glad you’re here.
